Golfing on Thanksgiving

Counting the days till Jared returns to the states. But in the meantime we can smile at the pictures and the message from the desert.
Jared writes “The attached pictures were taken yesterday 26 November, we were waiting around for the commander to come check out our vehicles and we found a bunch of golf balls these guys had hit across the street, we spent about 20 minutes walking all over the place looking for them. We talked our lieutenant into letting us barrow his 3 wood he found during the deployment. I was suprised the first ball I hit went strait! For the first few balls we just hit them off the dirt then as the wonderful engineer I am I took apart my pen and we used the bottom half as a tee. The only flaw in our plan is that we were hitting the balls across the road towards the airfield, had to wait for traffic between shots and got a lot of wierd looks from people. Was a good feeling to hit a few golf balls, if only we had more of them. I am going to have to go back out there and pick them up so we can hit them again! Watch out dad, see that form? Its flawless! ”

Dykeman Project in Olympia a Sucess!

OLYMPIA — The Top Food and Drug store at 1313 Cooper Point Road celebrated recent store renovations with a grand opening on Nov. 11,2008 . New store features include:

• A deli with a “meals to go” section

• A produce section with a sampling station

• A new cheese shop

• Expanded wine and seafood departments

• A new cooking station for food tastings and daily demonstrations

As a result of the improvements, store employment has increased to 198, according to a news release.

I went in search of some community information on the Planting event. Posted in 2005 was this message
“• A Mukilteo Boulevard planting at Forest Park, 802 Mukilteo Blvd., from 9 to 11 a.m. June 11. Volunteers will create a display of 40,000 flowers in 15,000 square feet of beds.” More WOW!
In 2008,
“Mukilteo Boulevard Planting
June 14, 9-11am, Volunteers will plant 40,000 flowers along the boulevard.”

You get the idea! Year after year the community gets together to dig in the dirt along Mukilteo Blvd. So that in the Fall of 2008 we all can enjoy a pleasant and impactful drive to work.
