Golfing on Thanksgiving
Counting the days till Jared returns to the states. But in the meantime we can smile at the pictures and the message from the desert.
Jared writes “The attached pictures were taken yesterday 26 November, we were waiting around for the commander to come check out our vehicles and we found a bunch of golf balls these guys had hit across the street, we spent about 20 minutes walking all over the place looking for them. We talked our lieutenant into letting us barrow his 3 wood he found during the deployment. I was suprised the first ball I hit went strait! For the first few balls we just hit them off the dirt then as the wonderful engineer I am I took apart my pen and we used the bottom half as a tee. The only flaw in our plan is that we were hitting the balls across the road towards the airfield, had to wait for traffic between shots and got a lot of wierd looks from people. Was a good feeling to hit a few golf balls, if only we had more of them. I am going to have to go back out there and pick them up so we can hit them again! Watch out dad, see that form? Its flawless! ”

Benefits of Pilates
“In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you’ll have a whole new body.”
– The promise of Joseph Pilates
Helps You Lose Weight and Inches
Pilates burns about 350 calories a session and creates more lean muscle mass to help you burn even more calories througout your day.
Develops Longer, Leaner Muscles
Pilates is designed to stretch and strengthen every muscle in your body giving you the appearance of long, defined muscles.
Develops Muscular Strength and Flexibility
Each exercise of Pilates is designed to strengthen one group of muscles and stretch the opposing group of muscles simultaneously through a full range of motion.
Strengthens and Flattens Your Abdominals
All movements of the body begin with your core which consists of your abdominals and lower back muscles. Each Pilates exercise that your instructor will have you do, initiates and strengthens those very same core muscles.
Improves Your Posture
Pilates strengthens your core and the muscles that are around your spine allowing you to hold your posture better. It corrects posture deviations and helps bring back the natural curve of your spine.
Improves Your Mind-Body Connection
Pilates connects your mind with the movements of your body. By emphasizing proper breathing and concentrating on smooth, flowing movement, you’ll become more aware of how your body feels, where it is in space, and how to control its movement.

Today Jared called!! ne of those rare phone call from we get from him. Time difference and his duties make it a very planned event to make a phone call to his parents. It was good to hear his voice. We talked about how hot the we
ather is here in Everett only to be reminded that Iraq’s desert temperatures are over 100 degrees. Add heavy military gear a helmet and then head out on an 18 hour mission its makes our hot day in Everett seem more tolerable. Jared said, its not pretty under that helmet.
Jared’s attitude is positive, he is doing his duty!
On his mind & ours too, is that day in Feb.or March 2009 when his boots will hit the ground here in the States. He is looking forward to a drive up the West Coast with his Jeep and his girlfriend. We look forward to all of that and more for him.

Our neighbor Mill Creek Town Center is a wonderful place to find shops, resturants, Central Market and of course my favorite Pilates Mill Creek. Josh St Clair the owner and operator of Pilates Mill Creek was my neighbor just a couple of years ago. He started as a Personal Trainer & opened this Pilates Studio just over a year ago. I find it a great way to start my day. Great way to strenghten the core & get all that positive energy going for the day. Call the Studio & mention Everettundressed and they will give you a complimentary introductory session along with a tour of the studio. You will be glad you did. Its a Great Place! www.pilatesmillcreek.com

Hope you had the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends this July 4th 2008. For us the Food, Friends and Fireworks were spectacular! While sitting on our deck with the lap top, my husband & I enjoyed a “Yahoo Messenger” chat with our Son Sargent Barthol, Jared in Iraq. The Soccer Balls you see him with in this picture were donated and sent to him by friends in Edmond’s. Jared has witnessed much in his 1.5 year term in Iraq. We are proud to say he is doing well, has a great attitude and is making the best of it all. Thus the soccer ball project. He is tossing these soccer balls to the young kids that sit by the side of the road with a can of gas to sell. Selling a can of gas is how they are bringing home funds to their families. So Jared’s Soccer Ball toss brings them to a different focus. Our hope is that it sends a good message, a peaceful one. And that the kids will have fun with this expression by Jared. He remembers his younger days with the soccer ball too! These memories of home bring him Hope, and strength to continue on. As we chat, it is all those simple things we have done together that are on his mind now. One never knows how these moments we share get translated in our lives. Make them simple ; loving and; often. More Jared stories to follow. He has 7 months left.
